Technology companies require a broad range of users. Time-to-market or in other words, timely and broad deployment of technology or product is a key business success factor especially in the SaaS/SW business models which heavily rely on the volume of users.
When clients have a global reach, they require technology suppliers able to offer international support and a wider and customized solution offering. When a technology or software solution is emerging, it requires the credibility that derives from a greater market share.
Organic growth often does not suffice to reach these objectives and M&A will offer a vertical or horizontal integration strategy scale since size in tech/software companies matters.
In consolidating markets, the rule “eat or be eaten” still prevails.
